Our Editorial Approach

At Osmanlitarihi.tr, the accuracy, sourcing, and usefulness of our content are core values. This policy explains our content production process, source approach, error correction procedures, and transparency principles regarding AI use.

Accuracy Principle

Information about historical events and persons is verified by at least two independent academic sources.
On controversial topics, different historians’ views are presented; no single view is presented as definitively correct.
Myths, legends, and folk tales are clearly identified and kept separate from historical reality.

Source Policy

We rely on academic publications and works by official historical institutions as our primary sources:

Turkish Historical Society (TTK) publications
Turkish Religious Foundation (TDV) Encyclopedia of Islam
University presses and peer-reviewed history journals
Works by recognized historians (İlber Ortaylı, Halil İnalcık, Cemal Kafadar, Suraiya Faroqhi, etc.)
International academic sources (Cambridge, Oxford, Brill publications)

Wikipedia and similar open encyclopedias are used for preliminary research; in published content they are treated as starting points, not primary sources.

AI Usage Transparency

We use AI-assisted tools at certain stages of our content production. This use is within the following limits:

Drafting: AI is used as a tool for creating preliminary drafts based on academic sources.
Translation assistance: AI assists in preliminary translation of English sources; final translations go through editorial review.
Editorial review is mandatory: No AI output is published directly. Every text is reviewed by a human editor for historical accuracy, source compatibility, and language quality.
Responsibility lies with humans: Our editorial team is responsible for all published content.

Error Correction and Updates

If you spot incorrect information, please report it to bilgi@osmanlitarihi.tr. Correction requests supported by valid sources are evaluated within 7 business days and applied to the article. Major corrections are added to the bottom of the article as an “Update Note”.

Advertising and Sponsorship Policy

Advertisements on our site may be served by Google AdSense and similar automated ad networks. Ad content is independent of our editorial process and does not affect the articles we publish. When sponsored content is published, this is clearly stated.
